No Accident by Laura Bates

In the Page to Post series, the Teen Book Guild spotlights the books that caught our attention after scoping out an entire shelf of titles in the Winter Park Library. From that first spark of interest to how we really felt after reading, you’ll get our honest take—no sugarcoating, just real talk from teens who love books (or sometimes don’t!).
If you’re looking for your next great read or just want to see if our choice was worth it, stick around. Let’s dive into the world of stories, one shelf and one book at a time.

Title: No Accident
Author: Laura Bates
Chosen by: Andres J.

If I had to pick a genre for this book:

Suspense

Why I picked it:

Because the short description on the back caught my attention

Brief synopsis (no spoilers!):

Seven teens--3 basketball players and 4 cheerleaders--are returning home after a tournament. In the Gulf of Mexico their plane starts to have some issues, starts to lose some parts, and the plane crashes. Everyone surprisingly survived, and now they are alone on a desert island with limited supplies. Suspicious accidents like shark attacks start to occur. The few supplies that they had are missing. There are traps in ways that could be dangerous for them, and cheerleader Hailey is sure that there's someone sabotaging them.

Swoon Factor:

1 - "Totally Platonic"

No romance whatsoever—just good vibes, friendships, or action-packed storylines. Romance isn’t even on the radar.

Rating my choice:

4: "I’m Hooked!"

You can’t put it down. The book is exciting, emotional, or meaningful, and you’re fully invested in what happens next.

My take on this book:

Pretty decent. I liked reading it. It's not one of my favorites, but it still gave curiosity and suspense vibes.
