Page to Post: We'll Fly Away by Bryan Bliss

In the Page to Post series, the Teen Book Guild spotlights the books that caught our attention after scoping out an entire shelf of titles in the Winter Park Library. From that first spark of interest to how we really felt after reading, you’ll get our honest take—no sugarcoating, just real talk from teens who love books (or sometimes don’t!).

If you’re looking for your next great read or just want to see if our choice was worth it, stick around. Let’s dive into the world of stories, one shelf and one book at a time.

Title: We'll Fly Away
Edited by: Bryan B.
Chosen by: Christopher S.

If I had to pick a genre for this book:

Coming of age

Why I picked it:

I liked the paper airplanes on the cover, and it looked the most interesting out of all the books I could have chosen from in the last Teen Book Guild meeting (not that I remember them now). Also, when we were playing the Bring Your Own Book game I saw a scene (no spoilers) that was very interesting and I wanted context.

Brief synopsis (no spoilers!):

A story about two boys who dream of leaving their small town behind, only needing to bring each other and leaving behind promiscuous mothers and deadbeat dads. We'll Fly Away shows that people are more than just their actions and will keep you flipping the pages until the end.

Swoon Factor:

4 - "Major butterflies"
Romance takes center stage with noticeable chemistry, tender exchanges, and moments that leave you smiling and swooning.

Rating my choice:

4 - "I'm hooked!"
You can’t put it down. The book is exciting, emotional, or meaningful, and you’re fully invested in what happens next.

My take on this book:

I really like it. I love how Luke and Toby interact and and was invested in all of their actions. I think it was a bit hypocritical with some parts of its theme, but the message does get through. That's actually the only bad thing I can think of about the book, I really like it overall.
